Support Saline Educators!

You may have seen signs popping up around town over the last week or so that read “150+ DAYS WORKING WITHOUT A CONTRACT.” Saline Indivisible stands in solidarity with our Public School educators, and they need our support!

The Saline Education Association put together the “Bargaining Bits” website to help combat the district's spin by sharing digestible, transparent, fact-based information about the bargaining status. We encourage folks to review their site and check out the “Ways to Help” page as well.

One way you can help is by copying and pasting from the email template below and send an email to the school board members, including the Superintendent! We need the district to know that 150 days is way too long to ignore our educators!

At our next event (June 18), we will share other ways to get involved. If you do end up emailing, we would love to hear about it!

Saline Board Member,

I am writing in support of Saline Public School teachers and building staff. As a community member, I value their work and dedication to our children.

Our teachers deserve to be treated with respect and fairness. 155+ days and counting without a contract is shameful. Saline should be investing in our teachers and their students. Working without a contract for this extended period reflects poorly on our district's priorities and sends a strong message to educators that they’re not a priority.

While administrative salaries have increased by 41%, money going toward our educators has gone down. Educators haven’t received a raise in the last two years. In the past 12 years, our educators have only received a less than 1% raise. Meanwhile, the fund balance reaches new levels. The teachers are overdue for a raise.

I join the voices of so many others in our community in demanding that our educators are properly cared for.

I call on the Superintendent and the board to make this an immediate and top priority. Reopen negotiation sessions and come to the table in good faith. Our teachers deserve better.
