Good Trouble Lives On

Jul 17
-
Saline Indivisible Event
Location: Downtown Saline

For many of us, Congressman John Lewis has served as a powerful inspiration, and the July 17 protest marks the anniversary of his passing (Rest In Power!). John Lewis famously coined the term “Good Trouble,” and while John is no longer with us, his actions and his words still move us. Saline Indivisible is excited to celebrate his legacy and is now excited to share our planning updates.

While protesting on the “four corners,” we have coordinated with local shops to host fun activities for families and crafty individuals. Our goal is to make “Good Fun” and introduce the late congressmen and “Good Trouble” to the next generation.

Family Fun

  • Visit Fine Print Books, Carrigan Cafe, and The 109 Cultural Exchange for fun activities, including sign and button making, coloring pages, music, and more :)
  • Enter your name for your child, grandchild, or friend to win John Lewis books and gift cards to the local shops
  • Snacks for kids will be available at The 109
  • And, of course: Protest!

Saline Indivisible is sponsoring all activities. This event adds a new wrinkle for us and makes it difficult to estimate, and supplies are not infinite. If we run out, we will know better for next time.

With the sponsorship, everything is FREE! Come make some Good Trouble in Saline!

After the protest, at 7pm, Salty Summer Sounds starts. In our June Monthly meeting, Naomi (I believe it was) said it best: “Come for the protest, stay for the music.” And, ya might as well grab a drink while enjoying the music :)
